Terms of Service
Last Updated: June 11, 2026
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using ScholarLM, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part, you may not access the Service.
Description of Service
ScholarLM is an AI-powered research platform that provides tools for searching, summarizing, and organizing academic literature. The Service is currently offered as a beta.
AI-Generated Content & No Reliance
Summaries, briefs, answers, and drafts are generated by AI and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. You must independently verify any information — including quotes, statistics, and citations — against the primary sources before relying on it. AI output is a research aid, not a verified result.
Not Professional Advice
ScholarLM output is provided for informational and research purposes only. It is not professional, medical, legal, financial, or clinical advice, and must not be used as a substitute for consultation with a qualified professional.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, or infringing purposes.
- Scrape, overload, reverse-engineer, or circumvent rate limits or security controls.
- Misrepresent AI-generated content as human-authored where disclosure is required.
- Violate the terms or licences of cited third-party sources.
Research & Academic Integrity
You are responsible for the integrity of your work. Do not submit AI-generated text as your own where that is prohibited, and follow your institution's and publishers' policies on AI assistance and disclosure. Always confirm citations and quotations against the original papers.
User Accounts
- You are responsible for safeguarding your password.
- Don't disclose your password to any third party.
- Notify us immediately of any security breach.
Subscriptions and Payments
Free to Use: ScholarLM is currently free to use for core research tools.
Future Plans: Paid plans may be introduced later; we will provide notice before any charges apply.
Payments: Any future payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your card details.
Refunds: Where paid features exist, fees are non-refundable except as required by law.
Third-Party Content & Sources
Search results and metadata come from third-party academic providers (e.g., OpenAlex, arXiv, PubMed, Semantic Scholar, Crossref). We do not control and are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or licensing of that content. Coverage may be incomplete or temporarily unavailable.
Intellectual Property
The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of ScholarLM and its licensors. Rights in third-party papers and data remain with their respective owners.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation, especially during beta.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ScholarLM shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, accuracy, or research outcomes, resulting from your use of (or inability to use) the Service.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. The "Last Updated" date above reflects the current version.
